Wilson Elementary School will host a Cinco de Mayo celebration on Friday, May 4 from 3:30-5 p.m. in the Wilson School cafeteria.

 

The event will include Latino dishes, tamale contest, piñatas, and student performances. There will also be a live mariachi band, “Ameca,”  performing between 4 - 5 p.m., sponsored by Cargill Meat Solutions.

FIRE AND ICE (4:00 pm)

The Evans Middle School Student Council is hosting an ice cream social to raise funds to purchase smoke detectors for Ottumwa residents.

 

Fire and Ice will be held Tuesday, May 15 from 4-7 p.m. at the North Fire Station. Tickets are $3 each or two for $5. Tickets may be purchased in advance from a student council member or purchased at the event.

 

The proceeds from this event go to purchase smoke detectors for those who are in need. There will be an opportunity to meet local firefighters and tour the fire station. The Blank Children's Hospital Safety House will be set up at Roe's Restaurant.

“Quarter Craze” Fundraiser (9:30 am - 11:30 am)

 A “Quarter Craze” fundraiser is planned for Saturday, May 19th as a
kick-off to the Davis County Alzheimer’s Walk to be held in June.

The “Quarter Craze” will be held at Mulberry Place Independent and Assisted Living, 11 Deborah Drive, next to Bloomfield Care Center. Doors open at 9:30 a.m., event starts at 10 a.m.

A variety of vendors are donating items for people to “bid” on.
At the event, participants need to purchase a “bid number” for $3 or two for $5.  Money raised will support the Davis County Alzheimer’s Walk in support of the Alzheimer’s Association.
