CINCO DE MAYO CELEBRATION (3:30 pm - 5:00 pm)
Wilson
Elementary School will host a Cinco de Mayo celebration on Friday, May 4
from 3:30-5 p.m. in the Wilson School cafeteria.
The
event will include Latino dishes, tamale contest, piñatas, and student
performances. There will also be a live mariachi band, “Ameca,” performing between 4 - 5 p.m., sponsored by Cargill Meat Solutions.

FIRE AND ICE (4:00 pm)
The
Evans Middle School Student Council is hosting an ice cream social to
raise funds to purchase smoke detectors for Ottumwa residents.
Fire
and Ice will be held Tuesday, May 15 from 4-7 p.m. at the North Fire
Station. Tickets are $3 each or two for $5. Tickets may be purchased in
advance from a student council member or purchased at the event.
The
proceeds from this event go to purchase smoke detectors for those who
are in need. There will be an opportunity to meet local firefighters and
tour the fire station. The Blank Children's Hospital Safety House will
be set up at Roe's Restaurant.
