KLEE KLUE KLEESHAY Winners
Friday, 06 August 2010 17:04

The 35th annual KLEE KLUE KLEESHAY was found Friday afternoon at 3:00 pm by Brock Ware, Elle De Wiese, Teresa Roby, Trenton, Maliea and Tyler Hart,

The hidden object was a clear plastic water bottle with a note inside that had been lowered into the street sewer catch basin at the corner of Wapello and Ottumwa streets. The bottle was suspended on a piece of fish line and tied to the sewer grate with a small piece of wire.

The winning group consists of members from four families. They have been looking since the beginning of the game. Maliea Hart said the group has looked all over town from the south side to the airport and every where in between.

Last night they were looking in front of the TOM-FM studios in the sewer catch basin there. This morning they were looking at the Ottumwa Industrial Airport, again checking catch basins.

Hart said the group was actively looking for the KLEESHAY, but happened to stumble on it. “We were coming back in from the airport, stopped and got gas at the BP on North Court. After that we were driving down Wapello Street when Ellee (six years old) said ‘turn here.’ That’s when we all saw the sign that read Ottumwa and Wapello. We stopped the car, got out and started looking.”

15 year old Tyler Hart got down and started looking at the grate on the catch basin.  Tyler said; “I never did see the wire, I didn’t see anything and I started to get up but thought I better take a second look and that’s when I saw the fish line and started pulling on it, and there it was.”

Teresa Roby said; “a lot of hours and four tanks of gas later, we finally found it.”

The group will share more than $2,700.00 in prizes from the sponsors and KLEE AM and TOM-FM.
