MAN FINED FOR CROSSING STREET TOO SLOWLY: An 85-year-old man was fined $50 for crossing the street too slowly. Italy's La Republica newspaper reported that he didn't get to the other side of the street before the traffic light turned red. Locals were furious at the fine because they say the traffic lights change too quickly. The unidentified man paid the fine, but Pinerolo's mayor intends to reduce the fine to nothing. (Newser)

NEW YORK STATE BANS PET TATTOOS AND PIERCINGS: New York is banning pet tattoos and piercing. Andrew Cuomo's new legislation will deem those acts to be animal abuse. Assemblywoman Linda Rosenthal introduced the bill in 2011 after hearing about a Pennsylvania woman who attempted to sell on the Internet "gothic kittens," with piercings down their necks and spines. Violators of the law, which applies to dogs, cats and all other pets, will face up to $250 in fines and up to 15 days imprisonment. The law is set to take effect in 120-days.

SANTA GETS A PARKING TICKET: Santa Claus' sleigh was given a ticket for parking in a no parking zone. Chris Uttley was towing the sleigh to a charity event when he stopped to wait for some volunteers outside a co-op. He started transferring some tins from his car to the sleigh when he was slammed with a $50-dollar-ticket. Uttley said that "Santa was absolutely shocked," and thought the warden should "get a lump of coal for Christmas." (Mirror)
